We have details on Chicago's first Pinkberry knock-off!

If you want to harken back to my original post, it's here, or you could scroll down.

The name is Berry Chill and it's located on State between Erie and Ontario. (635 N. State)

From their facebook group:
"Night revelers can delight in the fact that Berry Chill will stay open from 8 a.m. until 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. From Sunday through Thursday, Berry Chill will be open from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m."

Opening in January!

Here are some early reports.

This store is doing everything right. They had a preview party where they apparently invited Chicago's hottest young things to try their product. Those hot young things then went and posted on Yelp and joined Berry Chill's facebook group. They also have a website and a mailing list. If I ever come into a large chunk of disposable income and decide to open a yogurt store, I would do the same.

I was lucky enough to be invited to one of the tastings, and it is not a Pinkberry knock-off. It has taken it to the next level! It's so much creamier and it is actually healthy! Pinkberry was sued for not having real yogurt in their recipe but Berry Chill has live active cultures and was awarded the seal given by the National Yogurt Association. They will also have self-order kiosks so you dont have to wait in line. Plus they deliver! I listened to the entire business-plan, and it's genius! Can't wait til it opens!

Hi Robyn,

Thanks for your comment! One of the things I love about Pinkberry is its lack of creaminess, so I'll be interested to see how Berry Chill compares.

Pinkberry contains live yogurt cultures, just not enough to qualify it as yogurt in the eyes of the FDA.

I definitely applaud Berry Chill for being the first sour-frozen-softserve place to open in Chicago!

Chloe,

I know the founder of the company, you should email him at theyogurteur@berrychill.com and get on the invite list of a future tasting.

I love how it doesn't taste anything like the other frozen yogurt stores around our town. it is by far the best yogurt I've ever had. Keep on making the best!
